‘RITUAL’ es el sexto album de Ana Alcaide: un viaje místico, un canto al poder de conexión a través de las acciones rituales cotidianas. Nace de su encuentro personal con el cantante iraní Reza Shayesteh y la poesía persa.

Un disco independiente que ha recibido la mención de MEJOR DISCO DE COOPERACIÓN INTERNACIONAL del año 2022, así considerado el QUINTO MEJOR DISCO del año (entre 854 nominados) según los ‘World Music Charts Europe’,una red internacional de 50 radios y DJs de toda Europa que valoran los mejores trabajos de este género a nivel mundial. SEMIFINALISTA de los PREMIOS MIN 2022 como Mejor Álbum de Músicas de Raíz. Además de haber recibido otras menciones por parte de  la prensa especializada, como MONDO SONORO, que lo sitúa entre los 10 mejores discos de 2022 de 'Músicas del Mundo'.

Leyenda es un trabajo musical inspirado en leyendas y mitologías de seres femeninos de España, Europa, y de diversos lugares del mundo.

En mi camino de entendimiento del lado oscuro quise acercarme al mundo ancestral de lo femenino, como algo que estaba dentro de mí y que desconocía.

Conecté con estas mujeres porque tenían algo que enseñarme. Sus historias me emocionaron y me inspiraron. Su fuerza y poder reflejan aspectos de la esencia femenina como una extensión de la naturaleza, en todo su espectro de luces y sombras. Son mujeres valientes, seres de otro mundo que han trascendido su naturaleza en un inmenso acto de amor, según su entendimiento. Mujeres que incendian puentes, mueren en peleas, devoran hombres, cortan sus alas o se desprenden de su piel. Historias de amores y odios, bondades, sacrificios, obsesiones y deseos, que reflejan pasiones humanas atemporales. Ellas me enseñaron que solo aceptando la oscuridad, la luz puede llegar a adquirir un sentido completo. Su amor, su fuerza, su acto sublime se convirtió en algo mágico y prodigioso, y quedó en forma de leyenda para transmitirnos algún aspecto importante de esa esencia femenina, que finalmente es común a todos los seres humanos. 

Las leyendas son para mí la llave para comprender una sabiduría ancestral que ha quedado esculpida en la conciencia colectiva de los pueblos. La esencia de sus cuentos y personajes arquetípicos se plasma en diversas mitologías, recordándonos la necesidad universal de expresar idénticas inquietudes. ‘Leyenda’ es un claro homenaje a todas las mujeres y al lado femenino, porque todos podemos vernos reflejados en sus protagonistas, y porque esencialmente ellas son un espejo de nosotros, mismos convertido en leyenda. Os invito a que atravesemos ese espejo y nos atrevamos a sentir sus historias, pues su luz y su oscuridad es al fin y al cabo la nuestra.

‘Leyenda’ is a very personal album inspired by legends and mythologies of women and feminine beings from Spain, Europe, and diverse places from around the world. To help me explore and understand the darkness that lives in all human beings, I wanted to discover the ancient world of the feminine that has been passed down through the generations but we have lost touch with.

I connected with these women because they had something to teach me. Their stories moved and inspired me. Their strength and power reflect aspects of the feminine essence as an extension of nature, across the spectrum of light and shadow. They are brave, strange women, otherworldly beings who have transcended their nature in an immense act of love, according to their understanding. Women who burn bridges, are killed in fights, devour men, cut their wings or shed their skin. Stories of love and hate, kindness, sacrifices, obsessions and desires, reflecting timeless human passions. They taught me that only by accepting darkness, light can acquire a complete sense. Their love, strength, their sublime act became something magical and miraculous, and were are transmitted in the form of legend to show us an important aspect of the feminine essence, which is ultimately common to all human beings.
To me legends are the key to understand an ancient wisdom that has been carved into the collective consciousness of people. The essence of their stories and archetypical characters is reflected in a variety of mythologies, reminding us of the universal need to express the same worries.
'Leyenda' is a tribute to all women and to the feminine side, because our lives are reflected in that of the protagonists and, through that, we become part of the legend ourselves. I invite you to go through that mirror daring to feel their stories; after all, their light and darkness are ours too.

TALES OF PANGEA - GOTRASAWALA ENSEMBLE (2015)

Tras conocer su música en Samarcanda (Uzbekistán), el productor indonesio Franki Raden invitó a Ana Alcaide a la isla de Java (Indonesia) para formar parte del Festival GOTRASAWALA, un encuentro artístico global que promueve la integración de las artes escénicas sundanesas a nivel internacional. Con el objetivo de la colaboración musical a largo plazo, Franki le dio total libertad creativa para componer y trabajar junto a un grupo abierto de diferentes músicos. De esta unión nació un repertorio elaborado en dos fases distintas: noviembre de 2013 y octubre de 2014. Las vivencias personales y musicales en el grupo generaron un deseo natural de intercambio y un diálogo abierto que Ana quiso registrar mostrando la complicidad surgida del encuentro y la superación de las barreras aparentes entre ambos mundos.

After listening to her music in Samarkand (Uzbekistan), Indonesian music producer Franki Randen invited Ana Alcaide to travel to Java island (Indonesia) and join the GOTRASAWALA FESTIVAL, which purpose is to integrate sundanese arts with the international scene. With the objective of a long term music collaboration, Franki gave her all creative freedom to write new music and work with an open group of different musicians and this repertoire was elaborated in two different phases: during november 2013 and october 2014. Both musical and personal interactions among the group generated a natural desire of exchange and an open dialogue that Ana wanted to register, to show the musical complicity that emerged from this encountered and the overcome of the apparent barriers between both worlds.

LA CANTIGA DEL FUEGO (2012)

Una creación nueva inspirada en la antigua tradición sefardí que habla de amores imposibles entre judíos y cristianos, de antiguas leyendas toledanas y del viaje de destierro de los sefardíes. La historia de los judeo-españoles y su huella en la ciudad de Toledo impulsan a Ana para producir este disco de autor, con canciones nuevas marcadas por un estilo muy personal que ya definió en su trabajo anterior y que ahora amplia con mas sonidos y colaboraciones, ofreciendo una síntesis de estilos que busca los nexos comunes entre diversas culturas musicales. Este disco ha permanecido 5 meses en los ‘World Music Charts Europe’  lista internacional de referencia de las músicas del mundo, en 2012 y 2013..

'..Un gran viaje es espejo de lo que somos. Nos obliga a desprendernos de capas,  a tomar conciencia de nosotros mismos, a descubrir nuestra esencia. Nos permite escuchar la voz antigua y poderosa que desde tiempos ancestrales resuena dentro de nosotros. La cantiga del fuego es la voz que siempre ha estado dentro y que nos conduce a ser lo que somos...'

Ana Alcaide’s latest offering, is infused with ancient Sephardic tradition. It explores stories of impossible love between Jews and Christians, ancient legends of the Jewish quarter and exiled travelers who never returned. Inspired by Judeo-Spanish history and the everlasting mark it left on the city of Toledo, Ana Alcaide describes La Cantiga del Fuego as a ‘singer-songwriter’ album for which she composed new songs that delve into the old stories of Sephardic Jews. Drawing listeners in with the unique personal style she established on her previous album (Como la Luna y el Sol), Ana continues to build on her signature sound, incorporating an array of new instruments and collaborations. Ana’s music is a blend of styles that seeks to fuse common links between different musical cultures. Her concerts feature rich soundscapes and a variety of instruments that transport audiences back in time and open a window to ancient traditions and cultures. This album remained 5 months at the 'World Music Charts Europe', the international reference of this genre during 2012 & 2013.

COMO LA LUNA Y EL SOL (2007/2008)

'Como la Luna y el Sol’ es un disco inspirado en la tradición sefardí, en el que Ana renueva el estilo de esta tradición añadiendo sus composiciones y aportando un sonido propio y con personalidad. Antiguas melodías del mediterráneo se mezclan con las suyas en canciones cargadas de nostalgia y espiritualidad que son narradas en judeo-español, la lengua de los Sefardíes que nació en la España medieval.

En este trabajo Ana toma las riendas de la producción, introduciendo su voz y un gran número de sonidos e instrumentos del mundo, dando como resultado un disco con una cuidada y elaborada producción en cuanto a arreglos, instrumentos y texturas vocales.

'Como la luna y el sol’ es un verso de una canción sefardí que para mí simboliza nuestra relación con todo lo que amamos y perseguimos, con todo aquello que permanece inalcanzable... . La historia de los Sefardíes con Sefarad representa el desencuentro y la búsqueda permanente, es la misma de la que todos aquellos que se alejan de lo que aman como precio de su libertad..Los Sefardíes sueñan con Sefarad así como la luna y el sol se buscarán siempre, y como todos soñamos y perseguimos lo que amamos y no tenemos...'

'Como la luna y el Sol'- As the Moon and the Sun- was the result of the final degree project she completed while at the Malmö Academy of Music. This work is inspired by Sephardic tradition and offers listeners Ana´s unique vision of this tradition. Here she starts producing her music. She introduces her voice together with a great variety of instruments and vocal textures. The result is a nostalgic and evocative and album, with elaborated arrangements, made with diligence and care.

...'Like the moon and the sun' is a verse from a sephardic song found in Turkey and it represents to me the relationship that bonds us with all that is remote and unreachable...The connection between the Sephardic people and Sefarad, represents the sense of loss and the constant search of what was loved and remained unobtainable. Their history is the same as all those who left behind what they love as a price for their freedom....The Sephardic people dream of Sefarad, the unobtainable quest, the unreachable, the moon seeking the sun, the dreams od all, the search for what we love but never will have...'

VIOLA DE TECLAS (2006)

Trabajo debut de Ana Alcaide. Un disco instrumental que tiene como originalidad adaptación de la nyckelharpa sueca al repertorio tradicional español. La viola de teclas se hace protagonista de una selección de piezas tradicionales ibéricas de distintos orígenes: melodías sefardíes, ritmos castellanos y flamencos, rabeladas cántabras y piezas renacentistas, así como alguna obra de la propia Ana.

Producido por Carlos Beceiro (La Musgaña), el trabajo se caracteriza por su estilo folk y tradicional y alterna temas sencillos, donde la viola de teclas queda al desnudo, con piezas de instrumentación mas rica y variada.

‘Mi primer encuentro con la viola de teclas fue hace tres años, cuando viajé a Uppland (Suecia) y me traje una a España. Durante todo ese tiempo apenas tuve contacto con otros músicos que la tocaran, así que comencé a estudiarla de forma autodidacta en Toledo, fuera y lejos de su tradición típica de polskas. Empecé a explorar lenguajes donde pudiera encajar su sonoridad especial, iniciando así u trabajo de búsqueda más allá de tradiciones u geografías. Este disco es un reflejo de esta búsqueda particular.…’

 While pursuing her degree in biology, Ana travelled to Sweden where she discovered the nyckelharpa, a traditional Swedish instrument that dates back to the Middle Ages. She fell in love with the instrument and taught herself how to play it on the streets of Toledo, far from its traditional setting. Ana has played a pioneering role in the introduction and popularization of the nyckelharpa in Spain. As a result of her deep connection and experimentation with the instrument, she published her debut album Viola de Teclas in 2006. 'Viola de Teclas' ('nyckelharpa' in spanish) explores the posibilities of this traditional swedish instrument playing spanish music: flamenco and castillian rythms, sephardic pieces, reanasance compositions and a bit of Ana´s own material. The album was produced by Carlos Beceiro (La Musgaña), characterized by traditional arrangements and the naked sound of the 'Viola de Teclas'.

...'I first encountered the nyckelharpa (keyed- fiddle) three years ago, when I traveled to Uppland in Sweden, I then took the instrument to Spain. During that time I had almost no contact with other nyckelharpa players, so I started to study in a self-taught form in Toledo, outside and far away from its typical Swedish tradition. I started to try different musical languages in which its special sound could fit, and thus a searching work beyond traditions and geographies began. This music is a reflection of this particular search...'
